A year or so ago, new guidelines were announced for wearing sun protection in Australia, based on people's skin tone and the time of year.

Previously we'd been told to wear sunscreen or stay out of the sun in summer from 10am-2pm, but the new guidelines showed with my pasty white skin, told me I needed sunscreen for every month of the year except one in winter. And I really needed to apply it from 8am-5:30pm for much of the year. And wear sunglasses to protect our eyes.

I just find it so weird that we live on a planet where we need the sun to survive - to grow our own food, for our physical and mental health - but if we stay out in the sun we'll get cancer and die.
